The Consultations

During the consultation, the knowledge and experience of Maria will be used to establish the nature of the problem. The hair is very sensitive and reflects factors such as poor nutrition, systematic problems, medications and stress. The trichologist identifies the cause of the problem and where possible treats it.

As part of diagnosis, the trichologist may analyse the hair microscopically or have it analysed for its mineral levels, and may suggest blood tests to run.

Once the problem has been identified, the trichologist will discuss the cause with the patient and decide whether the problem requires topical and or internal treatment and, if so, which treatment would be beneficial. In some cases a referral may be required to an endocrinologist, dermatologist or general practitioner. Trichologists may also offer advice on hair transplantation and hair care.
